Swedish companies demonstrate confidence in Belarus and invest in business development

According to the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, in H1 2018, Swedish direct investments in the Belarusian economy on a net basis amounted to $ 8.5 million. This is somewhat lower than in H1 2017 (9.6 million), but the overall trend is positive. The total volume of Swedish investments, including loans and borrowings amounted to $ 26.5 million ($ 20.7 million in H1 2017).

It is worth noting that since the beginning of the year the volume of funds reinvested by Swedish companies in their Belarussian subsidiaries amounted to $ 11.2 million. By investing in the development of their business in our country, they demonstrate confidence in Belarus.

As a result, the accumulated volume of Swedish investments in the Belarusian economy as of July 1, 2018 amounted to $ 84.5 million, of which $ 41.5 million dollars are direct investments.

According to Belstat, as of the beginning of 2018 there were 23 companies in Belarus with the participation of Swedish investors, including 12 joint ventures and 11 Swedish-owned companies. Among them are SNA Europe Industries (Bisov), RindiBel, Vireo Energy, etc. A number of Swedish companies, including such well-known as IKEA, Ericsson, Trelleborg and Sandvik, have their representative offices in Minsk.
