Ambassador Dmitry Mironchik meets Speaker Norlen, members of Riksdag

On February 12, 2020 the Ambassador of Belarus to Sweden, Dmitry Mironchik, attended the annual foreign policy debate held in the Riksdag. This year, the Government's Statement of Foreign Policy was for the first time presented by Ann Linde, Swedish Foreign Minister since September 2019.

During the events held on this occasion in the Riksdag, the head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission briefly discussed with the Speaker of Parliament, Andreas Nurlen, the progress in Belarusian-Swedish relations achieved by the sides in 2019. Dmitry Mironchik highlighted significant economic projects implemented by IKEA and Siemens Sweden, informed the Speaker about the joint work of Belarusian and Swedish experts in the field of nuclear safety, stressed the open and intensive dialogue between Minsk and Stockholm on the promotion and protection of human rights.

 

 

The Chairman of the Parliament noted the fruitful nature of his meeting with the Belarusian Foreign Minister, Vladimir Makei, held in November 2019. Among other things, Andreas Nurlen emphasized Sweden’s consistent support of Belarus’ sovereignty and independence.

 

Certain aspects of bilateral relations, the regional situation and the interaction of Belarus with European organizations were also discussed by Dmitry Mironchik with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Swedish Parliament, Kenneth G. Forschlund, Deputy Chairman, Hans Wallmark, and with the Swedish parliamentarian and OSCE PA Vice-President, Margareta Cederfelt.
