Ambassador of Belarus Dmitry Mironchik visits Norway

On April 1-4, 2019 the Ambassador of Belarus to Norway (concurrently), Dmitry Mironchik, visited Oslo to attend a meeting of the Belarusian-Norwegian Joint Committee on International Road Transport.

Besides assisting the promotion of cooperation between the transport departments of the two countries, the Ambassador held a number of working meetings.

 

 

Dmitry Mironchik was received by the State Secretary to Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway, Mr. Audun Halvorsen, with whom he discussed the results of the bilateral cooperation, as well as the regional context in which it is currently implemented.

 

 

While meeting Mr. Knut Hauge, Director General of the Department for Security Policy and the High North, and Ms. Anne-Kirsti Karlsen, Director of the Section for Russia, Eurasia and Regional Cooperation of the Royal Foreign Ministry, the Ambassador discussed ways to intensify the Belarusian-Norwegian cooperation, including the expansion of its legal framework.

 

At the meeting with the Deputy Director of the Trade Policy Department of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, Mr. Håvard Figenschou Raaen, the sides exchanged statistics on the Belarusian-Norwegian trade in goods and services. Taking into account the importance of Belarus as a processor of Norwegian fish, the Norwegian side shared information on current trends and prospects of the aquaculture development in the country.

Ambassador Dmitry Mironchik met with the Director of the PRIO Institute for Peace Studies, Professor Henkrik Urdal, and Professor Pavel Baev, with whom he considered current situation in the European region and the analytical support for diplomatic efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution of conflicts.

 

The program of the Ambassador’s visit to Norway also included a visit to the Minsk Tractor Plant’s subsidiary, Belarus Norge AS. Dmitry Mironchik paid a visit to the headquarters of TOMRA Systems ASA, the world's largest manufacturer of equipment for sorting and recycling containers for beverages and other waste.

The Ambassador also paid a courtesy call to his Russian colleague – the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Norway, Mr. Teimuraz Ramishvili.
