Victims of the Great Patriotic War were commemorated in Norway

On 20 June 2024, on the eve of the nationwide Day of Remembrance of the victims of the Great Patriotic War, Charge d'Affaires of Belarus to Sweden and Norway Yaroslav Martinkevich laid a wreath at the Memorial at the Soviet war cemetery, situated on the Norwegian island of Tjøtta.

This cemetery is Norway's largest burial of Soviet soldiers who died in German captivity and fell during the liberation of Northern Norway by the Red Army. A total of about 10,400 people rest in the cemetery, of whom 8,600 have not been identified.
